Sueuga Kamu je mysteriózne duo z Oaklandu, Kalifornie. 16. októbra vydávajú na buenosaireskom labeli Hiedrah, Club de Baile EP s názvom „1973“. Naposledy vydali projekt Grieta na peruánskom labeli Terror Negro. Teraz s 1973 prinášajú klubovú temnotu, surový syntezátorový podmaz a zlovestné tribal bicie. Hneď prvý track „Disturbios“ (zo španielského: „rozrušenie“, „nepokoj“) znie ako temná uvítacia párty v pekle, alebo na temnom šamanskom mimozemskom rituály hlboko v pralese na inej planéte.
Druhá skladba „Cierra La Boca ft. La Favi“ ponúka upokojenie. Pomalý pulzujúci rytmus odkazujúci na reggaeton sprevádzajú vysamplované a upravené vokály od La Favi. „Deberia Dejar“ s opäť použitými útržkami vokálov La Favi a zvuky reťazí – track mne osobne pripomína nejakú cestu katakombami. Na „podzemnú cestu“ nadväzuje perfektne posledný track „1973“, hneď mi napadla scéna podzemných chodieb a mysterióznych desivých nápisov na stenách, na ktoré sa svieti len svetlom ohnivej fakle. Track sa mierne rozbehne do tanečného tempa, no stále sú prítomné hrôzostrašné elementy, ktoré utvrdzujú temnú atmosféru.
Výborné atmosferické EP, ktoré sa pre svoje reggaeton/tribal rytmy dá hrať v klube, no zároveň počúvať na slúchadlách počas nočnej cesty vlakom.

„There are certain years that will always live on; wounds that refuse to fully heal. Painful years that stick with us like scars burned into the history of our bodies and physical spaces. Years that are difficult to speak. Years that re-ignite, each time they are uttered. 1973 is one such year. It is also the new project from Sueuga Kamau in collaboration with La Favi and produced under the Hiedrah Club de Baile label. In a continent that is once again boiling with anger, the duo from California decided to reexamine the gaps of their own Afro-Latinx Heritage. Through lent voices, forgotten rhythms and erased identities, they weave a tale that bridges the unyielding Latin American narrative with that of the enraged African-American people.

1973 is both a loving touch and deep sorrow, a familiar sound that forcefully persists. It is the exploration of a territory that resists, conjures and continues onward; from Santiago de Chile to Dallas, from the outskirts of Buenos Aires to Oakland, California.
