The team of Swine Daily is closely following the artists from the incredibly vivid underground scenes across the world. We have premiered a lot of wonderful songs and tracks from talented producers, collectives, and labels. But with so much music, we decided to push a little further into the creation of something, that was a long time coming >>> SWINE RECORDS.

After two Various Artists‘ compilations called Swine World, and the third one coming on the 20th of September, we are proud to release the first project by our guest artist.

DJ Weed is a multidisciplinary artist, producer, and DJ from Mexico City. She’s only starting her music journey, but already has produced some of the most shocking mindblowing club bangers, we have heard. Distorting and melting together infernal rhythms of reggaeton and guaracha with industrial hard techno kicks, DJ Weed is creating her own world. Imagine raw dystopic science fiction, taking place in the suburbs of Mexico City, where aliens, robots, and people dance together. This is the soundtrack playing there.

Part of the label NACA WORLDWIDE and the Kabroncitrans artists collective, now DJ Weed has prepared her new revolutionary sound for SWINE RECORDS 001. Get fully immersed in the sound of [ LA MÁQUINA ] and find our little interview below.

Hi! Can you tell us where you are now and describe your environment?

I live in Mexico City <<uwu>> with a lot of noise always surrounding me. Here it’s like 2 PM, I’m in my bed relaxed just smoking a little.

When did you start producing music? How did you start, did you have some friends who were helping you with learning the software, or are you self-taught?

I started producing thanks to my friend AddlyMuff. We met at the @la.tianguis_disidente (a radical and activist flea market in Mexico City, which is a protest in response to the economic and social violence exercised against the LGBTQ+ community) and she organized some gigs, at which I fell in love with partying. Then she taught me how to play and the basics of music production. From there, I learned a lot of things on my own on YouTube or through trial and error, hehe.

You seem to have quickly found your original style. Very intense messy chaotic hard dancefloor bangers, we can also hear a lot of rhythms and inspirations. What feeling do you want to capture when making music?

Uyy, I love making bodies move. I love rhythms that force you to dance and sounds that blow your mind.

Are you inspired by other artists, and DJs, maybe seeing a good DJ set? Or do you try not to be influenced by other artists?

Absolutely, always for my trans sisters. They make the best music. I remember a very tribal DJ set by Gatita Chillona at the now-defunct Tianguis Disidente. I was very impressed to see so much power in her hands controlling the energy of a shitload of people on the street, I was never the same after that.

Tell us about your ep for Swine Daily, our first official artist release! How are these tracks special for you?

I’m so excited >w< these tracks for me are crucial in establishing a new era for my sound. I packed them with textures and a lot of transsexual flavor.

How is your city and artists‘ scene? It has a musical/arts scene where you can perform and feel comfortable?

Mexico is full of transsexuals, and transsexuals who make art like me. I love being around so many trans people and building a community – we celebrate each other a lot.

What music do you listen to when you want to relax from club music and from creating music?

Uyy, I love all musical genres! I’ll leave some recommendations that have been on my mind a lot lately <3:

Holy shitNo Sweat
TLCFanmail
Gucci Mane Pyrex Pot (chopped and screwed)
Cypress Hill & Sonic Youth I love You Mary Jane
XedraKitto

Favorite food?

Uyyy a lentil ceviche, with mango habanero. I’m addicted to anything mango habanero.
