Over My Body 跨 我 身 體 is an experimental club music label from Taipei, Taiwan that launched in 2021 with a compilation Koma vol. 1. It was playing with the definition of experimental drums in the way, that they’re not typically known for. Since then, the forward-thinking and innovative label is combining local Taiwanese talents with producers from all over the world. You can find other articles on Swine Daily.
Now they are releasing a short 3-track EP SAMM by Capiuz and Leese which can be seen also as a gloomy industrial futuristic version of a dancehall riddims. Imagine for example old-school classics like „Nanny Goat“ from 1992 by Jamaican musical pioneer Clement „Coxsone“ Dodd (he discovered young Bob Marley, and was a mentor of Lee “Scratch” Perry among others).
Capiuz is the experimental dance project of producer and performer Luca Favaro. Based in Italy, his genre-merging production focuses on exploring rhythm and sound design in a club context. Often leaning towards live performances, Capiuz’s music takes the form of a heavy-hitting outburst filled with heavy bass, breakcore progressions and granular textures.
Leese, based in Brussels, is an electronic music artist who has gained recognition for her unique style blending break and tribal influences. She recently signed two EPs with the Prague-based label Yuku, one of which was named the Best Bandcamp Release of April, and performs at clubs and festivals throughout Europe.
We asked the label owner B E N N, who also made mastering of the project, how he met the producers ►
„I met Capiuz through the web as producers through years. Last year when he first reached out with his „Pulverized „EP demos, two percussive tracks with distinct rhythms and heavy bass, which were really drawing my attention.
„Leese is also a very talented artist. I heard a lot of his music before I met him with Capiuz. When he proposed to me that he wanted to release a new remix album with Leese, it was absolutely a blast. A dance floor hit. They combined both of their ways to express drums & grooves ingeniously, the whole project was more exciting and danceable. It was really a pleasure to release their mutual EP.“
